Charity Runs With A Twist
It is amazing how many runs go on throughout the year to help different charities and organizations! I was recently at a shoe store and saw their corner of brochures promoting so many different runs and even training events. What a great way to stay in shape and help charities!
One of the runs in June is a foundation in memory of Lauren Kiefer and the funds raised help multiple organizations. This one really impressed me because it is such a great way to remember a loved one who has passed, especially if they were someone who loved to help others. I can not think of a better way to honor this young woman! If you would like to find out more, please check out www.rememberlaur.com and if you choose to do the event in Villa Park on June 23rd, please let us know.
With so many people doing a charity 5k run or 10k charity runs, here have got to be some sore muscles out there somewhere!! I am so fortunate that the stores that help promote the events allow me to leave flyers for our Massage For Charity fundraising parties!
Actually, I was at the shoe store with one of my 83 year old friends and I told her to take up running since I found an event I thought she should enter. Although I have heard of the Clothing Optional Charity Runs, this one at least lets you wear your underwear!!! The look on the cashier’s face at the store as he waited for my friend to fully comprehend what I was telling her, was, as the Visa commercial says – priceless. Although this run isn’t for a specific charity, I know some people run events to raise money for a particular cause they care about. What a wonderful idea. I love the idea of stores promoting marathons for charity, especially shoe stores. I would love to see more companies band together to promote the charities they support, or just start picking a charity and support it. Great info. Thanks for sharing and thank you for all the money your organization helps raise with your massage parties!!
Amy,
Thank you for your lovely comments. It is amazing to me how many organizations there are doing such worthwhile work. I really enjoy helping the smaller charities that don’t have the money to do the heavy marketing like the bigger ones.
What a lovely chance meeting we had in Berwyn on Thursday. Thank you so much for the book recomendation (Fractal Time) and for telling about this wonderful organization you belong to! Isn’t it wonderful when we can take the things we best love and enjoy doing and put them to use helping out others? Be well my friend, and continue doing the good you do in the world. — Mark
